Upgrading RapidMiner Server Software
If RapidMiner Server is already installed and you simply wish to upgrade the software, you have two options:
- Upgrade using an EAR file, which upgrades the application software but does not replace the JBoss application server. (This option was removed with RapidMiner Server 7.2, because it does not capture changes to the underlying application server itself.)
- Perform a complete installation, which upgrades the application software and the JBoss application server. (You can safely select the existing Server directory since RapidMiner Server version 7.2, because a clean-up mechanism was introduced in that version which ensures no old artifacts will break the upgrade.)
The pages linked above also provide instructions for rolling back both an EAR or full upgrade.
Upgrading to RapidMiner Server 7.1
Note: If you are planning to upgrade to Java 8 a full upgrade to RapidMiner Server 7.1 is required.
An upgrade using an EAR file is still an option if the runtime environment is Java 7, but to fully take advantage of RapidMiner Server 7.1 new features, a full upgrade is required.
